Xander wasn't sure if the fluters he got everytime that Anya mentioned the wedding were flutters of anticipation or of dread.

His own parents weren't exactly a good role model for a happy marriage, and Willow's were a close runner up.

But still, he tried to believe that they were flutters of anticipation and happiness... she was his love and light and he'd do anything to make sure that she remained happy.

yeah -- I'm not quite sure what his issues are with letting people have a good long term relationship. Buffy/Anyone; Willow/Oz; Willow/Tara; Xander/Cordelia; Cordelia/Doyle....
and don't even let me get started on what that basterd did to Wash (spelling most deliberately incorrect).

Not to mention the mindfrell that was Paul's relationship with November/Mellie on Dollhouse.

Joss just really doesn't seem to believe in 'happily ever after.'
