Ava rolls her eyes for what has to be the millionth time in the past hour. Luke has been stuck to his laptop because he got the brilliant idea to look in the internet for suggestions for their science project. What they've achieved so far is losing time and eating pizza because no one can work well on an empty stomach. The pizza wasn't so bad. But what Ava really wants is to get started.

She will win the science fair. She'll come up on top. Peter can already go home. Ava is going to crush it.

"What about a fog chamber?" Luke asks looking up from the screen, smiling like this is just for fun. He's not understanding the gravity of the situation. They have to be in sync if this will be the greatest project their high school and principal Coulson have even seen.

"Did Science Buddies tell you a cloud in a jar will win me--us, I mean us the prize," Ava says, dropping down on the floor of Luke's room, crossing her arms. "You know that I actually like you right? And I picked you out from the other doofuses to be my partner, but let me tell you, this ain't working."

Luke sighs, this time it's his turn to roll his eyes. "Ava, you have the best grades and you never skip class, I'm thinking we have this in the bag. Even if Peter somehow manages to prove time traveling is real or something, he'll somehow get in trouble and won't make it to the fair in time. Now, what do you think about cryogenic experiments?"

Ava stands up suddenly, looking wildly around the room. "You're right! We're gonna kick ass."

This was so good! I love how determined and confident Ava is and that Luke totally knows that she's smart and awesome :D
