It's been three weeks since Sam lost his memories. Three weeks since Dean was able to go through out the night with out his younger brother prodding him with questions.
"You and Dad fought a lot when you were younger." Dean begins one night. He swears it's like having an 8 year old Sammy again. Everything in the world still has it's shine, and Dean is the enter of Sam's world.
"Really? What was Dad like?" Sam sounds a little hurt, but he has this curiousness in his eyes Dean can't deny.
Dean spends the next four hours explaining Sam and their Dad's dynamics. It's Sam's next question that throws Dean.
"Have you ever killed anyone?" Sam voice is fragile and his eyes are so innocent.
It makes Dean pause. On one hand he has the option to give Sam what he's always wanted. A normal life. On the other hand, Dean needs Sam in his life.
"Yes." Dean starts, and Sam's eyes cloud a little. "But they were all bad people."
Sam looks unsure for a moment. "Why?"
Dean smiles a little wistfully before hugging Sam.
"Saving people. Hunting things. It's our family business Sammy."

I kind of adore poor Dean having to deal with blank!Sam and being torn between giving Sam up to a life that's free of the darkness that overshadows them daily and pulling Sam back in because he needs him damn it!
