Leverage/Firefly, Nate/Eliot, it's a sort of on-again/off-again kinda thingemmademaraisJune 30 2009, 07:58:59 UTC
It's a sort of on-again/off-again kinda thing, mostly because Nate's not on the planet that often. Not many jobs come out of there, but Eliot's worth a visit when he's in that part of the verse.
Once or twice he came along on a job he helped hook them up on, but the rest of the crew got suspicious like what with Eliot spending so much time in the Captain's bunk, so now he tries to plan some R&R around a refueling or a supply stop, saying he's got potential business to meet up about and don't be waiting up for him.
Eliot's got a little ranch outside town. Not much, but he's good with the horses so folks come from halfway across the planet to have him break in a pony for them to take home and ride. Some kind of damn horse whisperer or something.
When Nate shows up Eliot's usually in the stables helping the ranchhands with the feeding, but he always drops what he's doing for Nate. They share a good steak dinner - where Eliot always jokes about how much he liked that particular cow - a bottle of the good stuff and eventually a bed.
Eliot knows Nate won't leave the open skies and Nate knows Eliot's too grounded to be a vagabond like him.
But for a little while it's nice for Nate's feet to touch the earth and for Eliot to remember how to fly.
