Leverage, Nemesis!Eliot/Nate, and the box held hope neierathima May 15 2009, 03:36:35 UTC
((More Nemesis!Eliot, not as serious this time. ))

Sophie and Parker are on separate, but equally unreachable, jobs. Hardison is acting as backup from New York but unable to get across an ocean in time to help. Nate is lost in a series of catacombs in Rome looking for a box . He is dirty, tired and about five seconds away from strangling his boyfriend, immortal or not.

Eliot sticks his hand in yet another pile of bones and debris, looking for, oh yeah, a box.

"I'm not sure you really needed me here for this."

"Actually, I kind of do. My kind can't touch it without a holy shit storm."

Nate doesn't try to parse "my kind" or the exact literalness of the adjective "holy". It's just easier on him that way.

"But if you grab it in one of those piles, won't all the hypothetical bad things happen?"

Eliot gives him a look as he pulls himself out of a pile of rusty armor.

"I'm not looking for it. I know where it is. I'm looking for a key to the room it's in."

He starts rooting around in a truly horrid smelling fire pit. Nate stands clear of the clouds of soot.

"If you know where it is, why don't you just," Nate wiggles his fingers to demonstrate Eliot's only occasionally exercised extra-human abilities.

"I can't. Would attract too much attention. Besides, the room is probably protected, I'm not even sure it'd work."

"So were down here searching for some key to find a box that's in some myth..."

Eliot is suddenly right in front of him, poking a finger into Nate's chest.

"Not a myth. And it's not 'a box' it's Pandora's box. Someone is looking for it, so it's very important we find it soon."

"How soon are we talking about?"

Eliot's eyes widen briefly as he focuses on something over Nate's shoulder, then he's pulling Nate away as bullets rain in the area he's just vacated. Then they're running down the twisting corridors, Eliot is yelling and doing something and Nate is trying to get a connection to Hardison on his cell for that hypothetical backup. He still wants to strangle Eliot.

Is it wrong that I'm grinning gleefully at Nate's sort-of misery? It probably is, isn't it? This is such a good beginning. You realize you have to write more, yes? I was being all vague about prompting before, but now I'll be prompting for this and Hardison's parents for sure...

I feel kind of sorry for him. But then, if I didn't, I suppose he wouldn't be in a position to need Eliot, would he?
