" 'Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down..." Elliot sang along to the radio as he moved around the kitchen, humming when his mouth was full from tasting whatever he was working on.
"...move me until the sun comes up and you say that your done..."
Nate watched as Elliot's hips swayed along. Finally, he decided watching was too boring and entered the kitchen, sliding his arms around Elliot's waist and swaying along.
"Hey." Nate said.
"Try this." Elliot replied, turning and offering Nate a spoonful of stew.
Nate tasted the soup with a thoughtful look on his face.
"Needs some thyme." He said.
Elliot nodded and kissed Nate before turning back to his cooking.
Nate smiled as the next song came on and began to softly sing along.

The apartment didn’t come with them, but having them installed was worth it. The electrician thought the dimmer switches were for ambiance and Alec was fine with that. Nate, Sophie and Parker thought they were for the migraines Eliot got after fights. He did get migraines on occasion and dimming the lights did help.
Only Alec knew what the switches were really about. Only he knew they helped keep the nightmares of darkened cells and torturous guardsman at bay. Just a little light kept away memories of rats as big as kittens trying to survive by making a meal out of him and him making meals out of them.
Eliot told Alec about one of his nightmares. Once. Alec had the switches installed soon after. Eliot never said a thing. When he and Eliot get home, Alec dims the lights a little every few minutes.
Later that night with limbs intertwined, bodies soaked with sweat, and barely there shadows on the walls from the dimmed lights, Eliot whispers a quiet thank you to his lover.
1. Steve is shouting something but Danny's too far away to hear. All he knows is that Steve is terrified. 2. Danny starts to turn, trying to see what Steve saw, when he hears that weird lack of silence that occurs just before an explosion. 3. Danny throws himself down, barely in time, as the flame and glass fly over him. Even if he could draw a breath the air is too hot to breathe this close to the burning wreckage. 4. He is still struggling to get up when Steve appears and hauls him to his feet, all but dragging Danny to safety. 5. Danny lays next to the car and stares at Steve, an oddly familiar feeling creeping over him. It's amazing how much your life can change in 5 seconds.
