Hello, all! I'm still saavikam77, and I'm still your guest host for the last week of 2010.

Today's theme is Redemption. Whether your hero/heroine is a former baddie, an anti-hero, or has just made mistakes, everyone could use a little forgiveness, acceptance, and the chance to make things right ( Read more... )

((I don't know how I always end up writing from Jason's perspective on these things...))

It was ironic, really, that the one thing he could never forgive himself for was the one thing that Tim Drake never even considered his fault. Jason had thought that getting The Replacement to move past all the killing and attempted murder (He hadn't really meant it, his anger was never meant for the new Robin anyway) would be hard but in the end it was ridiculously simple. All he had to do was catch the kid while he was falling.

That was the truly mind-screwing aspect of this whole thing; Jason hadn't even put his life on the line to save Tim's ass, he'd just used a stolen grappling line to swing out and snatch Tim out of the air. Hell, Tim hadn't even been *conscious* at the time! For all he knew someone else had done it and Jason was just taking the credit. But whatever, he'd saved Drake's life and just like that... Forgiveness. Complete faith that Jason was on the right path again.

Jason would have taken it as another sign of Tim's low-grade insanity if it hadn't been for The Argument. Okay, yeah, it was lame to think of it that way, but there just wasn't any other way to describe it. Tim had gone to bat for him against Bruce, and Dick, and everyone else who suggested Jason was still a bad guy and when they'd refused to give him the benefit of the doubt Tim had left. Completely. Gave up all connections to the family and started working with Jason.

Six months later, with Tim sleeping in his bed more often than not, and Jason still couldn't wrap his mind around it. It ate Tim up, he could see that clear as day now, but Tim wasn't going to let go of the principle and his insistence that the others were wrong. How could Jason go back to his old ways when this man had given up the most important thing in the world to prove that he wouldn't? So yeah, he didn't kill people anymore, and maybe he was on his way, THEIR way, back in with the family, but Jason could never forgive himself for taking that away from Tim in the first place.

Oh BOYS!! *wibble*

This was just perfect. And I just love the way you switched it to Jay's POV. XD It would have to naturally follow that Jason couldn't forgive himself for the one thing that redeemed him in Tim's eyes.

Thank you!!

So glad you liked it! Jason insisted that this was his story to tell and I don't know about you but I find it's best not to argue with him. Although Tim's making noises about me writing another from his POV, as he doesn't think that Jason properly represented the situation, so that might happen sometime today.
