"I love you," Lily said to James, finally publicly admitting to what Remus had seen growing between the two of them over the last six months. Of course, James would always claim that he'd loved her from the moment he saw her, four hours in to their first journey on the Hogwarts Express.

Why can't I ever gather the courage to tell him how I feel? Remus thought to himself as he sat under a large beech tree, studiously ignoring the boy, man, person dozing next to him.

I'm a Gryffindor for a reason, dammit! If I can mostly deal with turning into that, monster every month, why can't I just say "I love you" to him? He continued internally ranting in this vein for a few minutes, stopping mid-sentence when his companion snuffled and twitched as a butterfly flew to close for comfort. He finally ended his uncoordinated movements by slumping onto Remus' left shoulder, his right hand flopping onto Remus' left thigh in what would be a passively possessive move if he'd been awake ( ... )
