Even from his house on the hillside, the Doctor could see the Daleks clearly. The first line were right above Gallifrey there were thousands more than there should be,he should be in his TARDIS now or with other groups of the Time Lords preparing what he could for the on coming battle.
"Surely even you can hear the drums now," the Master said coming up and speaking softly in the Doctor's ear. There was a gleam in his eyes. The Council was unleashing him on the Daleks and he welcomed their final inhalation. "The question is," he spun the Doctor around and held his face in his hands. "Will you fight with me or run far far away?"
The Doctor shivered as the Master tapped the drum beat out against his skin. The tapping had come more pronounced this week when they had laid entwined together as the Dalek's penetrated even the Master's mad mind.
