Max never sent herself though, Logan wondered if she had found out what he and Alec had got up to and was avoiding him. He knew that it was a war and she had to help out, but Max had never been too busy to come around before.

“How are things in Terminal City?”

“Same old, same old. They’ve started throwing bombs over the barricades. The police think they’ve got us trapped inside and can kill us off one by one, I don’t think they’re remembering that we were made and trained for this.” Alec grinned but Logan noticed it didn’t quite reach his eyes. The months of fighting were wearing on the X5 even if he would never admit it.

They talked for a while, and Logan managed to press Alec for all of the current news in Terminal City. It did sound like they were starting to do some damage, but even though there were vast numbers of transgenics, they were still outnumbered heavily by the humans.

Eventually, they moved to the couch and Alec checked outside for anyone that might be watching. He waited until he was satisfied that they were safe before collapsing next to Logan on the sofa, dropping his head down onto Logan’s shoulder.

Logan felt the familiar thrill as they made contact and tried to hide it, but Alec was quick and noticed the interest as Logan noticed that his pants were feeling a bit too tight. Alec grinned and placed his hand over the bulge. “Miss me, Logan?”

“You’ve not been round in a long time. Starting to think you weren’t coming back.” Logan kept the response light, but hoped for an answer to the question.

Alec just shrugged. “You know how it is. Dangerous times.” Alec leaned forward and kissed Logan, hungry and desperate.

When Logan pulled back he could see Alec’s eyes betraying every emotion he was trying to hide and Logan gently cupped his jaw. Alec dropped his gaze. “It’s not easy Logan. I don’t want to talk about it. I just want to forget.”

Logan’s nature would be to push, but he could sense if he tried right now, then Alec would run and he would lose the chance he had to help.

So instead he held out a hand, “Then let’s go forget.”
