When at last she worked up the will to she found she was alone in bed. She sat up and stretched. The window was tinted to dim the light but it looked like another beautiful day.
Clara got out of bed and slipped on a silky cerulean robe. She touched the panel beside the opaque glass (or something that looked like glass) door. There was a flicker and the door dissolved. Clara stepped out.
It was another glorious day. There wasn’t a cloud in the turquoise sky. There was the ever present moon, a cratered lump of rock that seemed to be the size of a basketball. The sun, high in the sky, instantly warmed her. Clara was pretty sure it was early afternoon. She walked barefoot across cool tiles to the edge of the swimming pool. The water had a glittering shimmer to it.
“She rises!” Amy greeted from the pool with a wave. She swam leisurely to Clara.
“Long lie-ins are what holidays are for.”
“True. Are you coming in?”
“Yeah I’ll go put on my swimsuit.”
“Don’t bother,” Amy said. “We’ll swim naked.” She whipped off her bikini top and bottoms in record time.
“Why is it we always end up naked within about five minutes of being together?” Clara shrugged off the robe.
“Are you complaining?”
“No. Definitely not.” Clara got into the pool. Amy met her, arms going around her waist. They shared a soft kiss.
“I’m glad you’re up,” Amy smiled.
“Oh why’s that?”
“Lazy days are a million times better shared with you.”
Clara laughed and they kissed again.
