Fill: Drabble

Ted raised a glass to the television and enjoyed the momentary peace as the bell for midnight began tolling. Jack was snoring in his chair, surrounded by bottles. Occasionally he would stir, yell “drink”, Ted would shove another bottle in Jack’s hand and he’d go back to sleep. Mrs Doyle had gone to bed, citing the need to be up early for something-or-other. And Dougal was outside with the one firework he was permitted to let off. Ted was placing bets with himself as to whether he would hear all twelve chimes before he had to go to Dougal’s rescue.
