She was waiting for him at the edge of the high school parking lot near the woods. She'd heard he lived on the trailer park on the other side of the woods and usually walked to school through the woods, which might have explained his dirty, leaf-ridden appearance at school most days. He was a freak, and everyone had laughed when he'd finally answered back to her observations in the cafeteria, challenged her to a fight. He was a skinny kid, and she was the captain of the women's soccer team for a reason. He looked like a jerk for challenging her to a fight, and he would look even more pathetic once she'd taken him down. Not that she didn't have the varsity boys' soccer squad waiting in the shadows in case things went sideways
