“Just remember.” Dennis’s voice was very serious. “Whatever you do, when the music starts, don’t turn around.”
Gordon lifted one eyebrow. “What, you’re worried I’m going to turn into a pillar of salt?” Dennis looked mystified. “Never mind. Why?”
Dennis blinked. “Bad luck.” The pause before he spoke told Gordon that he was making it up as he went along. “Yeah. It’s bad luck for you to see Noelani before you’re at the altar.”
“I’m at the altar.” Gordon didn’t mention that he hadn’t turned around at his first wedding and that hadn’t helped. “Try again.”
Dennis pressed his lips together. “Okay. Don’t get mad. But TC and Rick have a bet on you turning around… Rick says you will, TC says you won’t. Cade and me are helping him out.”
Before Gordon could say anything about underage gambling, the music started.
Nothing to do with the bet, Gordon turned around because he hadn’t seen Noelani in almost twenty four hours and that was far too long. The sight of her in a wedding dress, on her father’s arm, brought tears to his eyes. He barely registered Dennis’s groan at losing the bet.
