Aug 12, 2019 00:00

Hi! I’m brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling themes inspired by the movie Grease (And Grease 2 because I like it and I’m not sorry!), using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is SCHOOL. Any school related prompts are fair game today, whether your characters are in high school or college, or they’re teaching, or maybe just breaking ( Read more... )

Ostensibly a teacher, Sherlock is undercover investigating rumors of a cheating scandal. He endures mindless paperwork, but the general cluelessness of the students themselves is nearly intolerable. Now the headmaster wants to see him? Why?

“Mr. Holmes, we’ve had complaints about your performance.”

“Could you be more specific?” And faster--damn it, he has papers to correct.

“The parents think you’re asking too much. That vocabulary list you sent home is quite advanced for thirteen-year olds.”

“They need to be challenged.” Sherlock shakes his head. “Given the low expectations you have for them, it’s no wonder they need to resort to cheating to pass standardized tests.”

Look at you, so quick on the fill! This is great, thank you! Of course Sherlock is going to expect more from the students than the school itself does. ::nods:: He'll get those kids whipped into shape for sure.

I'm a night owl--I always check to see if the prompts are up at East Coast midnight. And this was fun--although I'm not sure if the do the kind of standardized testing in Britain that we do in the States.

Sherlock as a teacher is probably terrifying to children. I am amused, however. Of course he would have high expectations. Sherlock for teacher of the year!

Right? I could picture him going off on one of his poly-syllabic diatribes while the students stared blankly at him. And when he's done, one of them got up the nerve to ask what some term or other meant--hence, the vocabulary list of doom!

Well, we all know Sherlock doesn't suffer fools--so what better way to avoid the problem than to fix it before it starts? Get them early and educate them well!
