I hate this piracy bullshit.

Pirates are not cool.

i just talked about this a few days ago: about how i don't know what there is to glorify about a bunch of criminals. what's so much cooler about them than any other kind of violent robbers?

anyway, hi, i'm marion. i am secretly, not-so-secretly reading your journal because i like it.

I have a suspicion, you can trace the punk rock I wanna be a pirate thing to a moment in the late ninties when Peter Lamborn Wilson (aka Hakim Bey) wrote a book called pirate utopias that was real popular with the dreadlock dog on a rope set...

Aaaah - I've been pondering its origins, and that makes sense.

I also blame Dave Eggers.

Hi. You are welcome to read it.

Sprichst du Deutsch? Ich hab gewohnt im Goslar, in die naehe von Hannover, im 1991. Aber mein Deutsch ist jetzt sehr schlecht - Ich hab viel vergassen.

I'm all for glorifying some criminals. But christ, pirates?! They are little more than low-grade capitalists.

Wie hasst du mir gefinden? Jesus, I'm sure I'm butchering this. But I feel surprisingly able to read german, despite my inability to speak.write it with much depth or confidence. It has been 15 years since I really spoke it, I guess.

Why the US? I'm guessing based on your Heidelberg birth that you have a family connection - true?

ich glaube ich habe nach 'political theory' gesucht when i was bored/trying to avoid doing my work. sometimes i look through semi-random journals like that and end up liking one. your interests list made my heart jump!
(as for the browsing, i guess lj never lost its fascination for me, even after 5.5 years. to be able to read the thoughts of people in virtually every location in the world..amazing)

my family is entirely european, and i actually disliked the states (for political reasons - my judgement was only so differentiated when i was 16) for so long..but then i met an american boy on lj in 2001 (no really, that's the story) and the rest is total cliche. discovering the american 'underground' cultures, landscapes, city life, everything. oh and the boys. i still like those, hehe.
