I think the U.S. being out is great for two reasons:

1. Team USA lost at a game that we are supposed to be the experts in, and that rules as it is another little jab at the falling empire.

2.I think it is good for baseball. I was of the camp that this whole thing was a set up and the US was going to win it and it was all a joke. Apparently not, maybe the Baseball Classic will turn into a real event...
