January: Busted my butt at work doing overtime to get a new computer system up and going. Husband switched from rotating shifts to straight graveyard shifts, working Tuesday to Sunday 12 midnight to 8 am.
February: Still working to get the computer system up and going at work. Husband had a heart attack on 20 February, at age 40. The doctors eventually determined it was stress induced. He decided to buy a mountain bike and start riding it as soon as the snow melted so that he could improve his physical condition, loose weight and reduce stress, so that he would reduce his contributing factors to having another heart attack.
March: Got put on 'detached duty' at work, working on a special project to finish getting the computer system up and going because I was so much faster and better at it than anyone else. Loved working on that- such fun. Forgot how to do my job in the course of all things, but not a big deal, LOL. Husband starts riding his mountain bike like crazy.
April: Returned to my normal job at work, and signed up for the Big Bang. After all, I can write that much in just a few months. It's called a challenge for a reason. And husband fell off his mountain bike, requiring a 10 day hospital stay, a metal plate and 9 screws and months of rehabilitation. CP was diagnosed with 3 of 4 tendons torn in her rotator cuff and began rehabilitation therapy.
May: Went on FMLA from work to be the husband's full time caretaker, since he literally required assistance to get to the bathroom and back to the sofa again. He lived on the sofa on the main level of our house, and I slept for 3 hours a night upstairs, then went downstairs to remedicate the husband and see to his needs. At the end of the month, he returned to work on light duty working day shifts Saturday 1600-2400, Sunday 1400-2200, and Monday to Wednesday 0800 to 1600. I got to drive him to and from work, physical therapy and doctors appointments, all of which were a near daily experience.
June: Little brother lost his job, and the mommy had a heart attack. Husband continued to need me to drive him everywhere, but did begin to sleep upstairs. CP couldn't figure out exactly what it was other than something with regard to her brain had gone terribly wrong... and she started using leave without pay from work. CP's rotator cuff was finally healed. She also had to drop out of the Big Bang.
July: CP reached critical mass with regard to her own health, and finally got answers. There was a buildup in her brain of bad stuff, and it had reached a great enough amount that the next steps were epileptic seizures, coma and finally death. So there was a new medication introduced. CP's husband decided he could drive himself to work (eek). CP's auntie found out she is going blind and there's no way to stop it.
August: CPs daddy got laid off. The new medication continued to give CP lots of problems, but they were better than seizures, coma and death, so she tolerated them. The husband had to have his knee "manipulated" because he didn't do part of his physical therapy exercises, and she spent another week in the midst of it all trying to play Nurse Nellie to him again.
September (so far): Still no jobs for brother or dad. Mom back at work that caused her to have the heart attack, but there's a new boss which makes lots of things better....
Yes, I know it's not a year. But after all that, does it really matter?
