Stolen from shirono,

Give me a pairing and a theme/word/prompt/angle. And I will write you a sentence. Probably a hot sentence, but not necessarily.

They hadn't talked to each other since that game, but Hatake had always thought that Mihashi's voice was annoying anyway, and somehow writing out his apologies on paper and sending them through the mail made them feel more sincere.

Riku and Sena had wanted to race home; to make it an even game they'd kept the shopping bag between them, each holding a handle like it was the other one's hand.

It had taken Mihashi three days to work up the courage to open the letter, taken him three minutes to read it, and taken him three hours to write three words back that didn't look like a stammer in handwriting.

((Because for serious, now I want to do a whole mess of these. I love this prompt. ;O;))

It hadn't been a shock because Hatake hadn't been expecting any mail in return, but because he hadn't been expecting it to mean enough that he'd want to tuck it into the box of baseball cards he kept hidden under his bed.

((Reposted for location fail, so they read in order xD;;))

"I'm sorry I was really selfish then," Mihashi wrote in a second letter that reached Hatake the next day, and made him feel like they'd both lost sight of themselves and each other during those three years they spent facing each other from home and the mound.

Hatake had slept without resting for four days with the second letter in the box under his bed, until finally he'd sent a letter back that said, "I want to make it up to you," in tiny, jagged letters pressed too hard into the page.

"You don't have to," Mihashi had finally written back, not even sure what Hatake thought might change what happened between them, "I was wrong, too."

"I need to, so just meet me somewhere already -- and gimme your damn phone number," Hatake had written, so ashamed to admit that he didn't know it he'd spent a week trying unsuccessfully to sneak a look at Kanou's phone before he put the letter in the mail.

"I'm sorry," Mihashi typed shakily with his thumb, the most recent letter clutched in one hand and his cell phone clutched in the other, "I still talk funny."

Even though Hatake had meant what he said about apologizing, he hadn't expected to feel like the way Mihashi stammered out his name on the phone was endearing instead of annoying.

Even though they were talking now, late at nights after practice when they were both exhausted and sort of half-dreaming, Hatake and Mihashi exchanged paper notes; it felt good to have something physical that they could hold as proof of what they were building together.
