[JMM] #17 - Needing hugs

FIVE times you needed a hug and one time you needed to give one

1. Rose watched in horror as bits of the Earth flew by the observatory window. She didn't care that it was billions of years into her future. All she could think about was that it had been turned into a spectacle by people that didn't even care and no one had been watching it when it finally did go. Her mum, Mickey, Shareen, everyone that she knew was gone and turned to dust. Just like the Earth.

2. She'd wanted to be there for him, but she couldn't idly watch her dad being killed so she'd saved him. That had been a mistake that had snowballed, but out of it all she got to know her dad. So really, she was sorry and she did regret it, but it was also a good thing. That was until her father figured it all out. He figured out that he had to be the hero and save the world. Rose Tyler had to watch her dad walk outside of the church and put the time line right.

3. Rose had never been so scared. The Doctor said he was going to change. Change into what she didn't know. She didn't know what he meant about not seeing things with that daft old face. She loved liked his daft old face and funny ears. His skin began to glow and he doubled over in pain. She wanted to go to him but he told her no. What she wouldn't give for one of his hugs right now, silently telling her that everything was going to be okay.

4. The Doctor was dead. At least that's what everyone was telling her. That he fell down in that pit thing and they wanted her to leave his body there. No, just no. She wasn't giving up on him. They didn't know him like she did. They didn't know that he always came back and even if he was gone she wasn't going to leave his body there all alone even if it meant her death, too.

5. Her fist beat against the wall as if she could break through. "Take me back." She said it over and over again, almost like a litany but whatever god was in charge of these things turned a deaf ear. The universe was sealed off and it didn't matter that it was what the Doctor had wanted. For her to be safe and with Mickey, her mum and Pete. All the mattered was that she was never going to see him again. Ever. She felt her mother's soft hand on her shoulder and she turned into her embrace. Rose might have been twenty years old but she still needed her mum.

One Time Rose needed to give a hug:

"You are connected to the TARDIS. Now feel it die. The TARDIS has been destroyed. Now, tell me, Doctor... what do you feel? Anger? Sorrow? Despair?"

Rose looked at horror at the screen. She knew exactly what that meant to the Doctor. It was his only connection to his homeworld besides watching Donna die. She wouldn't hug him in front of the Daleks but she could give him comfort. Rose silently slipped her hand in his and held on tight.
