[OS] #76.3: Go back and change one thing in your life

If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

Seventh of November. 1987. I'd thought about it off and on since the Doctor said the TARDIS was a time machine. Not like it was any big plan or anything no matter what he thought. Just wanted to be there for him, for my dad, the day he died. Mum used to always say that she wished that someone had been there for him, that he didn't have to die alone. I wanted to be that person.

The Doctor tried to warn me, telling me to be careful what you wish for. I wouldn't listen. Do that a lot, actually. I get an idea into my head and I won't let it go. Mum says I get that from my dad. The thing is though, I should have. I should have left well enough alone or done like I'd planned to do and just be there for him. Instead I saved his life.

I know what you're thinking, time lines and everything but all I could think about was that's my dad. I save universes and worlds so why couldn't I save my dad? It wasn't like it was going to change history or anything. He wasn't anyone special except to me and mum. I was wrong. It made a difference. It made a big difference and because of that the Doctor died. A lot of people died and it was all my fault.

I'd like to say that I was brave and put things right but I didn't. It was my dad. He knew what he had to do and he did it. Peter Allan Tyler stepped in front of a car on the seventh of November, 1987 and saved the world. That time, I was there for him. I was the blonde girl, a stranger, that stayed with him holding his hand until he died.
