Notes: sorry it's late I've been busy. Uhm not to proud of this update but y'know it'll work I guess.

Once again I sat there watching the slow steady rise and fall of his chest. Watching him sleep was starting to make me tired. Tre had left shortly after Billie had fallen asleep leaving me sitting there with Billies head in my lap and his foot propped between a mound of pillows. I didn't want to move in fear that I would startle the teen. Fuck knows he doesn't need that. I had no choice but to sit there with a numb leg and stiff arm. I passed time by busying myself with running my fingers through his hair and tracing my finger down his jawline. Every so often he would whimper softly or his forehead would crinkle with distress until I soothed away his troubles with slow circular motions to his temples. For a while he was calm and relaxed, to the point where I was starting to fall asleep, unfortunately, the second peace falls over the two of us a loud annoying ring radiates through my apartment scaring the boy awake with a gasp. His hands flew to his neck where he started clawing at his throat panicking. I pushed his hands away from his neck, pulling him against my chest and reaching foreword to grab the damn phone off the table. I gently massaged the nape of his neck while answering the phone just to stop the ringing.
"What?" I demanded, a bit harsher than intended. There was a moment of silence before a female voice spoke.
"Mike? Is that you?" My heart stopped for a second. That voice. A voice I knew so well. A voice I hadn't heard in years.
"Anna.... how are you?" There was a sigh on the other end.
"Mike lets just skip the formalities, there's something I need to talk to you about and it doesn't involve the weather."
"What do you need Anna?" My annoyance was more than obvious. She sniffed quietly.
"Mike its, about Estelle. She, oh god mike she ran away!" She sobbed.
"What?! Anna how the fuck did she run away? How long has she been gone? Where could she have gone?"
"I don't know mike! I don't fucking know. That's why I called you. She left a note. Something about needing to see someone. She said she would call me when she gets wherever she needs to go but it's been six hours! She also took my credit card. What if she got hurt?" I could almost feel her panic through my phone. The first time my ex wife decides to call me in over four years it's about my daughter running away. fucking great. Ok breathe mike, just breathe.
"Anna check your credit statement, maybe that will tell you something. Just call me back if you get anything. And calm down please." I hung up the phone before she had a chance to answer. Glancing down, wide concerned green eyes stared back at me.
"I guess I've got a story too."
"You can tell me after you help me to the bathroom." I smiled a little, momentarily putting my worries in the back of my mind. I helped him to sit up then brought him gently to his feet. With one arm wrapped around my neck we limped our way to the bathroom. Once he was satisfied we made the small thrip back to the couch, this time I was at his feet wrapping an ace bandage around his foot and ankle.
"When I was 18 I meet Anastasia. It was right after I finished high school we got married and then found out she was pregnant. When Estelle was born I think it was the greatest day of my life. I'm not going to say things went smoothly but we managed. Money was tight and after a while our relationship was starting to crumble. We would fight and argue every night, trying not to wake Stella. After four years, Anna threw the divorce papers at me and took my little girl to New York. I haven't seen nor heard from them since."
Thinking about my child missing, in some place that no one knows where, I started to panic. She could be hurt or someone could have her. What if she was kidnapped? No. I can't think about that. My palms were sweating, hands were shaking and my heart was beating hard in my chest. The beginning stages of a panic attack were already fast approaching. I needed to do something. I need a walk. Or some fresh air. Something! Billie must have noticed my distress because he moved his feet giving me room to stand. I got up quickly, throwing my shoes on and grabbing a jacket.
"I- I need... uh... walk..." I stammered fumbling with the doorknob. The door flung open to what was supposed to be an empty hallway, instead there was a small girl with wavy brown hair holding a bag over her shoulder.
"Stella..."
