Notes: I was listening to this really pretty song. (The main theme for Cider House Rules.) and this popped into my head. Some shameless fluff, involving Billie - Mike - and the two boys. A big happy family. :)
The sunlight dances across my face, and I smile. I like it's warmth, but I like yours more. I like where you are, in our bed. Curled up next to me, with your arm draped across my waist, as if you were trying to protect me from something. You have a habit from slipping your head away from your pillow, so that your somehow shorter than me.
Your lips brush against my collar bone, as you stir softly. Maybe you know I'm watching you. I watch you, alot though. Sometimes I wake up earlier, just so I can watch you while your sleeping. Your so precious when your asleep. Not that you aren't when your awake. It just so beautiful to watch the sunlight make patterns on your distinct face.
Your eyes open, and move up to my face. They still have a translucent like film over them, one you often get when your high, or you've been sleeping. You blink a few times, before moving into a sitting posistion. There's a moments silence, before you whisper to me in a low voice.
"'Morning beautiful. . ."
I smile and lean foreward, planting a sugary-sweet kiss on your lips. You look at me as I pull away, and smile. A slow, dragging, graceful smile. Your hand reaches out, and you touch my cheek softly. "I love you." You say in the same low tone. I grin, and lean into you. "I know." I whisper.
You laugh softly, and run a hand up and down my back. I pull away from you, and stick my bottom lip out. "I don't want to go to work today." You smile at me, and run a hand through my hair. "I know, baby. I know." your voice is soothing, but it dosen't help.
"Let's just, call off sick. We can keep the boys home, and all go out to the park or something." I say, with a little to much hope. I've always been good at persuasion, but when it comes to work and boys- your stubborn. You look at me for a long time, before shrugging.
"Why not?"
Your arms wrap around me, and you fall back into the bed. I curl up next to you, and plant a soft kiss on your collar bone. I hear footsteps, and find myself giggling. "Joey? Jakob?"
Two sets of eyes peer over from the foot of our bed, and stare at us. You grin, and open your arms. "C'mere, boys." You say- your voice still low and scratchy. They both scramble into the bed, and curl up in between us. "Daddy are we going to school today?" Jakob whispers to me softly.
I look over at you, with the sappiest look I could pull off. "Ask Mike." I say, in a child like voice. Both Joey and Jakob look over at you, with the same look. "God you are just like you father." You say, grinning. You kiss the top of Joey's head, and ruffle both Jakob and my own hair.
"Nah. I'm thinking. . .we should all go to the park!" You say.
Joey and Jakob's eyes grow wide, and they beam brighter than the sun. "Really? You mean it?" Jakob says, crawling over to you, and hugging you around your neck. You smile, and attempt to pry him off your neck. "Yes, really. Go get ready though!"
The boys scrambled from the bed without another word. You turned over on your side, and kissed my forehead.
"I love you." You say softly.
"I know." I reply. You don't look happy. You shake your head, and run your hands slowly down the back of my neck.
"Let me hear you say it. Please." The desprate note in your voice, almost makes me feel guilty. But I just smile, and kiss you. You smile down at me, but it's bittersweet.
"I love you." I whisper. The smile on your face makes me melt a little inside, but I'd rather not let you know. I slide out of bed, and run over to your side, grabbing you by the hand. "Come on Mike! You promised us a park!"
You smile, and kiss me, a little harder this time, before walking into the bathroom, to get ready.
I smile, and look at the wedding ring on my finger.
How'd I get to be so lucky?
