I have an appointment for next Monday for diabetic eye screening at the centre in Hove. Not allowed to drive as the after-effects can result in blurred vision for a while. My only option is to travel by taxi. However, here's the rub:
The current fuel crisis. It's academic to think of using my car as I have only sufficient petrol for 30 miles at most. Taxi drivers in Brighton are also suffering, unable to find a garage with fuel. Panic buying has seen a significant number of filling stations run dry. If a station has a delivery then the news hits social media creating a rush to the pumps and further panic buying. Vehicle owners queue for hours in the hope of getting a fill.
I 'phoned the centre yesterday to explain my concern about probably not being able to get a taxi on Monday and requesting a postponement for my test. Needless to say I was unable to speak to anyone and had to leave a message. I have had no response.
All very frustrating. Moreover, I have no idea when I might be able to obtain petrol for my own vehicle...
