Escape from lockdown

May 19, 2020 12:50

I had become increasingly concerned about my car standing stationary for days, more likely weeks. Brake linings start to rust and tyres lose pressure. This morning we decided to have a run out to our local garden centre, Dobbies, adjacent to the Brighton Race Course. it is now open again. On arrival we parked up and joined a queue observing social distancing and suitably garbed with face-masks and nitrile gloves. We had to wait no more than ten minutes before being allowed in.

The centre was being managed by a skeleton staff and a route to observe around was indicated on the floor. We had received £50 of National Garden vouchers as a Christmas present that we were able to use. Staff at the tills were sat behind protective screens.

Everything was straightforward and it was a most enjoyable outing, particularly as it is a beautiful day, warm and sunny.
