It looks like the internet is abuzz with new EU tour dates for NKOTBSB, and more reviews and such. So obviously the tour is doing well, but it's also doing really well by industry standards! So well, in fact, that Billboard is dedicating a whole session to them at their Touring Conference! I am actually pretty amazed, and proud of all of them!

NKOTBSB, Amos Lee to be Focus of Billboard Touring Conference Breakout Sessions

The highly successful New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys tour and the development of rising rising singer/songwriter Amos Lee will be the focus of two separate "Road Cases" sessions at the 8th annual Billboard Touring Conference, set for New York Nov. 9-10.

"NKOTBSB: Anatomy of a Home Run" will break down the trek that uniquely combined the pop supergroups New Kids On the Block and Backstreet Boys in a ground-breaking co-headlining tour that moved more than 500,000 tickets and emerged as one of the sleeper tours of 2011. The unique staging and presentation, which fully integrated the hits and performances of both groups, changed the paradigm for co-headlining tours. Key players will discuss the strategic moves in the set-up, launch, and execution of one of the most creative tour concepts in pop music history, including Peter Katsis/Prospect Park, manager, Backstreet Boys; Jared Paul/AGPS, manager, NKOTB; actor/singer Donnie Wahlberg, NKOTB; Darryl Eaton, agent, Creative Artists Agency; and Brad Wavra, VP, Live Nation.

Additionally, the Artist Development Road Case session will take a look at the touring career of Amos Lee, whose critically acclaimed songs and strategic touring led to a significant career up-tick this year; his latest LP, "Mission Bell," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in February. Since the release of the Blue Note artist's "Amos Lee" album in 2005, Lee has combined key supporting slots, select headlining and impactful festival appearances to become an artist many in the industry feel is poised to break out in a big way. In what's sure to be a compelling artist development case study, Team Amos Lee will break down the moves that now have this artist poised to break through to major headlining status, and what comes next. Participating in the session will be Lee; his managers Perry Greenfield and Kevin Morris from Red Light Management; Zach Hochkeppel, SVP Marketing, EMI; Joe Brauner, responsible agent for Lee at Creative Artists Agency; and Lenore Kindor, promoter, AEG Live.

"Our goal in programming the 2011 Billboard Touring Conference was to not only take a hard look at the most important issues that effect the touring industry as a whole-and, by extension, the entire music business-but also to examine touring strategies for specific artists and tours that have obviously proven extremely successful," says Ray Waddell, Billboard's executive director of content and programming for touring and live entertainment, who will moderate both sessions. "By analyzing the touring blueprints of Amos Lee and New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys, artists at different stages of their respective careers in different formats of music, we can learn a lot of lessons that apply across the entire live business. I look forward to getting into nuts and bolts of touring with these industry pros."

The 2011 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards will be held Nov. 9-10 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. Head here for more information and to register.
