Being a Dick!fan, there's already lots of stuff dedicated to him cluttering up my lj memories. Meaning I can post several links at once, circling a certain topic. This time: Lovers, past and present, and relationships.
First, there are three essays over at
ship_manifesto I'd like to point out to you. I'm sure there are (or will be) more, but these are my favourites and, in my opinion, quite eloquent. Besides, they have pictures! Pretty pictures.
maelithil:
How You Train Wild Gypsy? - Dick Grayson/Bruce Wayne.
Loyalty. There you have it. You can sum up Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson's whole relationship with that one word. That and desperate need and emotional co-dependency and, most importantly, "sticky and hot".
petronelle:
A Relationship That Complicated - Dick Grayson/Tim Drake (Robin III).
They love each other. They need each other. And if they get very close to each other, it's hard to figure out how they'd ever entirely untangle without breaking something.
derryderrydown:
Dick Jokes - Dick Grayson/Roy Harper (Arsenal).
If Dick and Roy spent all their time understanding and helping each other, the relationship could get a little boring. Thankfully, they both have tempers and, knowing each other so well, know exactly what buttons to push to get a rise.
Then there's
katarik, who's mainly meta-ing about the possibilities of and reasons for a Nightwing/Deathstroke pairing, but using it to highlight several kinds of relationships, including Barbara Gordon (Oracle) and Koriand'r (Starfire). The main influence here is an interview with Nightwing writer Devin Grayson, contemplating Dick's sexuality and kinks in general (don't worry, katarik has linked it). The comments are a good read as well.
katarik:
*cough* I've been thinking. And last but not least,
petronelle inhaled Nightwing #1 - 103 and gives a little retrospective, neatly summarized and listed (Villains, Romance, Batfamily, et cetera, including her thougts on the artists and writers and comparing Devin Grayson's style to Chuck Dixon's). However, it requires a certain level of familiarity with the characters and the series as a whole.
Nightwing #1 - 103, or, Guess what I did yesterday? (contains spoilers!)
Have a fun read ^^
