"So, you have plans tonight, for once.” Tony said entering the room with a light in his eyes. Bruce was decidedly focused on his calculations.
Tony looked at Bruce expectantly "What, nothing?"
"A little busy here."
"When aren't you busy?" He held up a hand, "Wait, don't answer. You haven't left the lab in months. I can see the couch hair from here."
"I am not always busy!" Bruce pointed out, feeling mildly annoyed. "I just saw a movie yesterday."
Tony looked at him skeptically, "It was a movie on particle decay. Really living on the wild side there, Bruce."
"My wild side tends to get a bit out of control. I try not to encourage it."
Tony grabbed Bruce’s pad of calculations from him, thumbing through it. "As I remember it your wild green rage monster self saved us all when Loki attacked."
Bruce tried to grab for his results, but Tony moved deftly out the way. He solidly stated, "Tony, I need those results sometime soon."
"It bothers you doesn't it?" Tony prodded.
"You? Yes, you bother me. Happy?"
"No, that's not it. You can't stand the fact that you could only help when he came to the surface. That as yourself you couldn't do a thing to stop Loki. But the Hulk, well that's a different story."
"No, I'm absolutely thrilled with the fact that my demons are on display for the whole world to see." Bruce said, his anger mounting. He could feel the Other Guy begging for a chance to punch Tony right in his smarmy mouth. No! Bruce could not let him destroy this, like he had destroyed so much else!
Tony looked at him, troubled at first and then there it was, that mischievous light glinting in his eyes. "You're going to my party tonight. It's a "We Just Saved the World!" theme. You need to unwind and I think the rage monster could use a day off." He began to walk away and held the results over his head as he walked away, "I'm taking these! You'll get them back later!"
"Tony, wait! I'm not done with-. You can’t just come in here and-and command me into associating with people." he tried to get Tony to stop, but there was no stopping Iron Man. Tony had made up his mind. Bruce sighed and let him go. Tony already on his phone making plans for the night.
Bruce forced his anger down. As he regained control he felt a touch of gratitude. He knew he was hard to deal with, but Tony still kept trying to talk to him. Never once had that man ever shied away from him because of his…condition, which is more than anyone else could say. The man infuriated him and yet Bruce couldn’t really be angry at him. As Tony left Bruce lighter felt than he had in many months. Perhaps being with people wasn’t such a bad idea. Maybe he would go to that party after all.
