Aw, thanks! Damian's got his training and some serious issues, but he's also a lonely kid who wants a family. I figure Alfred has a bit of a deft touch with lonely, prickly kids by this point.

I did decide to leave the time frame vague on purpose. When I came up with the idea there was a possibility it would be set while Bruce was dead, but I haven't read enough of those Damian and Dick issues, and decided that was more plot and angst than fit in 500 words. ;)

Yay, I'm glad you liked it! Giving Damian some subtle encouragement and something creative (rather than destructive) to do with his hands seemed like a thing Alfred would try to do. Thanks for the comment!
