She sees them in the dark night, but at first, she isn't quite certain what she sees or, rather, she doesn't want to believe what her startled, blue eyes are telling her. Thunder rumbles in the distance. The night draws even darker, but by the silver light of what is left of the moon, just before it passes into compete darkness, Ororo sees what she'd hoped never to believe.

She sees the claws caressing and not striking. She sees the hands cupping body parts instead of being balled into vicious fists. She sees the mouths not spouting hatred but rather hungrily devouring each other. And then the world goes dark as the eclipse begins.

She doesn't want to admit what she's seen, but she knows. She knows one of her oldest friends, the man upon whom they are all depending, is taking his greatest enemy to bed, after having shared her bed. She knows he's playing with danger, fire, and lightning. Lightning strikes, illuminating the darkness, but both men are gone.

Soft hands gently cup her elbows. A long, pointed tail curls around her smooth, dark legs. A friendly body, whose dips and curves she knows perhaps too well, presses close against her back. "Ze lightning and ze zunder," a voice that still makes her melt, despite her best intentions and guards, whispers into her ear. A tongue flicks out, licking her lobe. "Are you all right, fraulein?"

She sighs, her eyes fluttering back into her head. The wind rises. "Yes," she whispers a breathless moan against his jaw as she leans into his touch. And no, she thinks. She knows this is wrong, but then Logan's out with another man. Why should he care who she sees behind him? They do have an open relationship, but still, Kurt is his best friend.

"Ah, voman, you have ze grace of a Goddess, ze beauty of an Angel, and ze body of sin." The blade at the end of his tail slides against her skin, as smooth as satin and more provocative than anything Ororo's ever felt away from him. "Vhat is a man to do?"

Thunder rumbles again. Lightning clashes once more, but this time, it isn't quite so angry. The wind whispers a million, empty promises. Ororo sighs. The moon slips back out into sight, and as sure as its silver light bathing the land after the eclipse, she knows. She knows what she is doing, what she wants to do, and what Logan is doing as well, and she answers Kurt with a kiss that illuminates the midnight sky as brightly as a thousand fireworks.

Her kiss says it all: Love me. Love me while he is gone. Love me after he returns. Love me forever. It sings more passion into Kurt's veins than he's ever felt with any other woman, and as his tail wraps around her, he is obliged, pleased, and honored to do his very best to make all their unspoken promises come true.
