His muscles tensed inside his old body. He was glad he continued to exercise and keep in top fit for a man his age, and even a man half his age. It always paid to be in proper form whenever his Master left a surprise or something else unusual struck him. There was always something that came at him at this time. He had encountered everything from a mouse to a forgotten villain while doing this seasonal chore, but he wasn't prepared for what awaited him this time.
Maneuvering down on his hands and knees under the Christmas tree, Alfred tensed when the object first came into sight. He drew closer, examined it further, and whispered, "Oh, my." There was no doubt who had used the tree this year, he thought as he carefully lifted the silk and leather objects.
Something suddenly squeaked underneath his foot, and Alfred bolted upright. The toy mouse rolled out from beneath his foot. Alfred again shook his head and gathered the toy up along with the bra and whip. He considered jesting while dispersing of the items but quickly opted to be discreet instead. He would not stoop to Master Dick's juvenilistic sense of humor.
But all that changed when he passed Bruce upon exiting his bedroom, the mouse, whip, and bra laid behind him on the bed. "You look like you've seen a ghost, Alfred," the young man remarked, but Alfred noted the humorous gleam in his blue eyes.
"Hardly, Master Wayne, but I daresay that Santas who play with whips do not get cookies."
"You were planning on baking cookies?"
Alfred smiled, mustache twitching. "You'll never know, will you? Excuse me, sir. I have a tree to finish removing." He left Bruce with his mouth open and a wry smile upon his own.
