so, another bombshell:

i'm not a physics major anymore.

well, i haven't officially changed majors yet (i'm doing that tomorrow), but i am committed to dropping physics and doing russian instead. this decision has been a long time coming, really, but after going to my first physics class last thursday, well, let's just say that it was the straw that broke the camel's back (he told us to expect 10+ hours per homework assignment, and his first lecture was about how F=ma is a load of bullshit). i need to take five more russian classes after this semester, so i'll either be picking one up for summer school or taking an extra semester, which i was planning on having to do anyway with physics. my schedule this semester is a bit weird now, because i have three classes which won't be much work during the semester, but between them there will be two 10-page papers and a project at the very end, so i could probably handle another class now (if i could find one), but i won't be able to by the end. basically, it should be a more relaxed semester until april, when things will get absurd. so anyway, here's my schedule for my first semester as a russian major:

Russian 106: Advanced Grammar/Composition II
Sociology 112: Social Stratification
Music 46: Intro to World Musics
Geology 11: Rocks for Jocks

now, lemme 'splain. the first three classes all fulfill breadth requirements. the last one, i had enrolled in for the purpose of getting an MAT from carolina after getting my physics degree (basically, the MAT program here will certify you to teach ALL high school sciences: physics, chemisty, biology, earth science). it's BRAIN DEAD EASY, and i needed the hours, so i kept it. well, back to the grindstone. peace.
