Reminders of home

It seems like ever since I arrived in Dallas I have been in the shittiest mood. Leave me alone for 10 minutes and I start feeling like I need to cry. Making my way to Jordan's last night I made a wrong turn and passed a street called Oak Knoll. It made me wish that I could turn onto it and be back in Austin.

Getting out of Austin was so frustrating for me. I had to drive around everywhere looking for cheap, minimal-wait tires. I had to pick up something from downtown for my mom. And... that's about it, but it was frustrating. The cute boy who was jacking my car up and changing my tires, though, was the sign that my day would get better. The drive up to the Dallas area was wonderful. We played a game. A game of waving.

45 people waved back to our waving.
1 car waved at us first.
10 semis honked their horns for us.
3 people smiled at us.

The roads up here have the weirdest names. Namely (ha ha punny), Zang. This was the exit we took to reach Charlie's grandparents' house. I mean, really. Zang? Zap! Dooey! Boom!

Friday night was spent at Jordan's in Greenville. We watched Leminey Snicket's, or whatnot. And this evening we went to Cracker Barrel (wtf) for dinner. I hastily drove back into Dallas to pick up Jessica for the concert. Then we made our way to the Nokia Theatre. Parking was a pain, and the crowd was weird. It looked like most of those people belonged at a country & western concert, NOT a Bob Dylan concert. Merle Haggard opened, but we caught mostly the last half of his set. It was awesome. And Bob Dylan was awesome.

More reminders of Austin when driving here (to grandma's house) about an hour ago. It was reminiscent of the drive one would take to see a certain ex-boyfriend.

I am downloading GoogleEarth right now. I think I will smoke a cigarette. And I will read Hatchet later on.
