Burning Down The House (210 Fanfictions Read in 2009)
So, here's the deal- I kind of read fanfiction like it's my job. Honestly, I've had such a busy year between school, track/cross country, my job, hanging out with friends, etc. but you know what, I still found time to read 210 stories. And that number seems small to me, pathetic. Anyway, if I was going to do a 2009 list, it was going to have to be of my favorite and all of the fanfic I read this year. It just had to be done.
CAMP ROCK
Reading Camp Rock fanfic feels like ages ago when really, I read most of it all in the beginning of this year and a few during the summer. I don't read any now but at one point this stuff was like crack to me. Also, I read so many more but these were the only ones I could find/I favorited on ff. Or maybe I just thought I did because the whole After The Credits Roll series took me forever and half to read.

"I waited two years to see you again even though I wasn’t assured I ever did. Now that I am, it’s all the more reason to wait.” Mitchie sat up and looked down at Shane, who then slowly sat up with her. The two black silhouettes faced each other, both smiling unstoppably. “Just trust me, Mitchie. I won’t hurt you. I love you.”

How was I supposed to know this would happen? I mean, whenever I got an assignment, it didn’t say anything about having to work with a cute rock star, or getting romantically involved, it just told me the assignment. So if you tell me that maybe I shouldn’t have accepted the interview, all I can say is, I had no freakin’ clue what was going to happen. Okay? Okay.
I love AU fic. I don't know why but I do, sometimes even more than canon and as for this story, it's much better than half the canon Camp Rock stories I've read, just sayin'.

He wants to be offended, but he’s not. In fact, the note’s just saying, Joe, I know you and I’m not stupid. However, you're a giant dork who falls in love with everyone and I'm not ready to be next. No hurt feelings.
By far, best Joe/Demi fic I have ever read. Most stories don't do the pairing (&OTP/FATE) justice, but this one does.

"Puck, make like a tree and get outta here!” she called, quoting the character that inspired his t-shirt. Rachel flashed him her million-watt smile and went to join her friends.
Oh and this is my other favorite, favorite. Puck is firefighter, a firefighter. Rachel runs into a burning building to save her neighbor's cat and get's pissed off at Puck for trying to save her. She is best friends with Quinn and Kurt. She also plays Velma in Chicago. Her and Puck are hot as fuck. COULD THIS/MY LIFE GET ANY BETTER?

Berry, you insulted football. At a football after-party. In front of football players. When you clearly know nothing about football. / Please. A bunch of overly large, overly aggressive men smash into each other repeatedly over an oddly shaped ball. I fail to see the point of it.
( + ) One Of Us (Gen/ Puck/Rachel)
He’s an architect now (because, hey, once Rachel gets him to start studying he’s actually not that bad), so during the day he designs buildings and at night he watches Rachel and plays music and sings, and it’s really pretty much perfect. They might be spread across the country, but everyone’s just a phone call or a text or an instant message away, and they get pictures and updates from Will and Emma (who stopped being Mr. Schue and Ms. Pillsbury a long time ago) weekly.
My favorite happily ever after.

Only Rachel Berry could curtsey in a pair of shorts and a jersey in a stadium full of people and pull it off. “You were great,” he told her when she reached the gate where he stood waiting.

When Rachel invites a boy from her class over to work on a project, Puck walks in on them giggling over Chinese take-out. He decides to spend the night anywhere but there. The next morning he waits across the street for the guy to leave before coming in with coffee. He wonders how long it’ll take the douchetard to find what he’s keyed on the side of his car.

If I let you down when you needed me the most I’d never forgive myself.” You feel the phantom splash of a slushie against your face, hear the taunting laugh of jeers and jokes, and lock eyes on the nasty messages posted on MySpace for the world to see. You think about how Rachel came to school every single day knowing what she was facing; you think about the way she never, ever gave up. If she could do it, maybe you can too.

This was difficult, mostly because I have such a terrible memory when it comes to remembering which story is which. Of course I remember my favorites but some stories, although super awsome at the time, aren't so easy to remember right now while I'm compiling this list. I guess this is what happens when you read so much fanfic (aka you have no self control) but come on. PS no judging on my favorites (and yes, there are a lot of them.)

You know how much your school hates us.” He said and Gabriella nodded at his words. They both knew that announcing their relationship would end with one or both of them getting hurt, physically or mentally.

First, please don't think that I don't know who you are. I do know who you are, very well in fact, and I'm sorry if that sounds stalkerish. As much as I wish this never happened to both of us, you, me, Skylar, and Landon… I couldn’t be happier. I’ve said this a bunch of times to myself before, I would not trade any of this for the world.”

He smiled, “Yes, we were playing baseball.” Inside the garage, Gabriella rolled her eyes, moving out of the truck and preparing to follow the pair. Hannah gasped, “Did you score any baskets?” Troy chuckled at her confusion of the sports, “Runs,” Troy corrected, “and yes, sweetheart,” Troy said cheekily, “daddy scored a homerun.”

The first time he met her, it was magical, quite literally. They were always supposed to meet, he knew that - the coincidences in their lives, the almost meetings, the common interests, the common friends, it was all supposed to end with them meeting. Despite that though, he wasn’t sure if it was fate or just dumb luck that engineered a meeting that particular day but whatever it was, it was just...magical.

Troy Bolton had been Gabriella’s everything. He was her stranger at three, her acquaintance when they first met. He had been her enemy when he told her parents around her eating disorder and when he made her stop. He had been her playmate, her teammate, her brother. But there were only two things that he would always be. They would never die, nor go away. He would always be her lover, always and forever. Until they both died, she would always love him. But there was something more important than that. Something deeper, a bond that only she and Troy shared. No matter what happened, Troy Bolton would always, always be Gabriella’s best friend.

Without a doubt, one of the best fics I've ever read. First they hate eachother, then they wind up at camp together (camp!!!), and finally they fall love. Cliche but it works.

“Paging Gabriella Montez. We’ve got a code red, push ten CC’s of love.” Gabriella heard a smooth voice say playfully. She turned around to see Troy talking into his beeper, pretending that it was a microphone. Gabriella giggled and put her hands on his chest. “Ms Gabriella. Your showing affection, at work? You know that’s against the rules. You’re a naughty doctor.”

“I wouldn’t mind being tied to you.” I looked away and blushed, biting down hard on my bottom lip. Turning back to him and grinning, I snatched the tortilla chip from between his fingers and popped it into my mouth. “Back at’cha, Bolton.”
I hate myself for getting attached to stories that don't get updated. I totally understand that people have lives... actually I don't, get your asses online and update your friggin' stories. But this one is precious, I love everything about it.

Gabriella smiled. Ryan had never looked at her like the way Troy was now and it should’ve scared her that it wasn’t her boyfriend that was trying to figure her out, but it didn’t. “My friends call me Gabi.” Gabriella said and pushed open the doors to exit.

What in the hell? Why was there a girl in his treehouse? Wait, why was there a naked girl in his treehouse? Oh what in the hell, was he high? Was he dreaming? He pinched his skin so hard he cracked through the skin and yelped. Nope, he was awake. But things like this only happened in his dreams, not in the real world. Oh, this was too weird.

I cried so much reading this story but it's just that good and I love everything about it.

She just recently moved here with her family.” Gabriella was smiling and lifted her arm to make a small wave with her hand.

Gabi was thinking heavily now, while Britney started a new cards game on her computer. “Listen Britney,” she emphasized the name of the blonde on front of her. “I’m Gabriella Montez, the mother of Troy Bolton’s child, so it would be really nice if you could let me to him now, or I’ll tell your bosses what you’re really doing when you’re supposed to work,” Gabriella now hissed at the nurse, trying not to get too loud.
