HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARWIN!
200 years ago today he was born! Wheee! It was 50 years later he published Origins, but the big party for that is still a few months away XD
It's been drilled into me so much because of one of my course modules this semester, it's all about different species and taxonomy and stuff, and we're being told to watch the documentaries on the beeb or else XD
Although it does mean that all the copies of Origin of species and Almost like a whale are out of stock in our library :( and I'm too poor a student to want to buy my own.
I am so going to go see if the museum has an exibition on, although I doubt it. It only just reopened this year, but it has so many cool displays because we're on such an important fossil-rich coast and all sorts of neat dinosaurs have been discovered in places that are just down the road, haha XD they have this massive one that even had crocodile teeth in it from where something tried to eat, and possibly killed it. Plus! The museum has a star-trek-style lift which amused us all greatly when we had a field trip there. And sparkly sparkly ammonites! And awesome wrapping paper.
