The last thing Taylor expected when she got into the back of an ambulance with Tim was to find herself a patient in the ER. She was so upset by the time they got there following Tim having another one of those weird seizures in the ambulance that the fact they wanted to poke and prod her

Sam couldn't think straight. She was at the point where hearing Mac's voicemail just left her numb. How much bad news did they have to get before they caught a break? How much more shit could possibly hit the fan? She felt awful for Tim, especially since watching him nearly die from alcohol poisoning was still fresh in her mind. She'd watched him battle to keep sober only to have this happen

Something Matt had never told anyone was that there had been a period in school where he considered studying to become a nurse. After taking care of his grandma, he figured he had the skills and it was an honest living. It just never eventuated when he got worried people might laugh at him for it. He focused on his art, which now, really wasn't something bringing in a lot of cash. He picked up one days work at a gallery and he was enjoying it, but he still wondered if he should be going to college, trying to make something more of himself. He didn't want to end up in another job like a pizza delivery dude just to barely make ends meet. The notion had been even more stark recently with the news coming out that Taylor was pregnant. It made Matt how the hell he would ever support a family if he had one one day

Taylor shook her head, still trying not to start crying helplessly. "I don't know, some ward. They've been tryin' to get hold of Billy, but he ain't answerin'. I left a message with Jason to see if he could go over there on his way home, but he ain't answerin'. No one is fuckin' answerin'!" She threw up her hand in frustration, trying to sit up further in the bed like she wanted to get out of it.

"T-They think he has meningitis. This is all prevention or something' 'cause I'm knocked up. I was touching him and he threw up on me, so they think I gotta chance of catchin' it. He's away in some isolated room. But they want to do more tests too, only they couldn't tell me what or why 'cause I ain't a relative. I-I don't know how he is, but he was burnin' up. Found him on the sofa when I got in from work. I ain't even sure how long he was there."

Sam gave Taylor another hug before she stepped back to Matt's side, her grip on his hand tightening. "I'm sure he's just busy drivin', or somethin'. Ain't any other reason he wouldn't answer. I didn't answer 'cause I was workin', and then once ya hear somethin' about one of ya best friends bein' in hospital it's all ya can do to just get over there. If it weren't for Matt I'd probably still be standin' back at the supermarket like a zombie."

She frowned a little as she looked over Mac. "But meningitis? I don't get it, how'd he even get it? Why can't they tell ya somethin'? Ya came in with him! This is just crazy. I hate this waitin' around bullshit when ya ain't a family member. 'Course we're damn family, we're all he's got. Billy ain't been any help at all. Where's Tyra? She's his sister-in-law. Surely that means somethin'?"
