i have not updated in a very long time, but today feels right.
furthermore, today feels great! despite temperatures in the low forties, it feels like summer. the way the sky looks, a darker blue with browns and greys of impending storm, closer, lower. the lighting, sun hidden fom sight, but a brightness not seen in a long while, a brightness similar to warmth, though the warmth could not be felt upon the skin but only in one's mind. the way the people walked down the sidewalk, with jackets thrown open but with hands shoved in pockets, with wobbly dogs and baby carriages, the unspoken inquiring of the person walking toward you, a mutual excahnge of: do you feel it too?
i am soon moving about 6 blocks away from bushwick to bedford-stuyvesant, known better as bed-stuy, which rhymes with dead-guy. the new place was a warehouse for 120 years and has recently been converted into an apartment, so no one has ever lived in this building. it is 1200+ square feet with wood floors thoughout, enormous windows and endless closet space.
i interviewed for a fellow position at an all girls charter school on the lower east side, which serves girls from brooklyn and the bronx from low income families.
and tonight is date night.
this is a picture of my building from the 1930s:
