Well, long time no update.
I haven't really been up to much really, just working, knitting and sleeping. Also my headaches have started coming back so that's a bit annoying!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has meant that work is reallllllllllly busy. Especially the first
Orange Wednesday, the queue was out of the door! When I got in that day I was a bit annoyed I was ushering instead of box office, but Orange Wednesday is annoying at the best of times. And here's why.
* People queue for 15 minutes and then get to me, and say "So how do I do the 2 for 1 thing?" I tell them, and then they send the text whilst still standing in front of my till. They can hear me when I tell them what to do to get a free ticket, but when I say "Excuse me, do you mind just moving to the side so I can serve the rest of the queue?" - deaf as a doorpost. It's not as annoying when we're quiet, but with out of the door queues - how on earth do they not find themselves annoying? The rest of the queue is using Orange Wednesday, I'm sure if they asked the people in front or behind them, they'd have told them what to do.
* Them: "I sent the text, but I've not got the number yet, can I still get 2 for 1?"
Me: "No, I need the number to put into the system"
Them: "Well, can you just put it through and I'll tell you the number when it arrives?"
Me: "No, I need the number. I can only put it through on the till once the number has been processed. The till needs to know the number has gone through first." - the last sentence is a lie, but it makes it easier to explain why I can't and won't do it for them. If they think it's the till that's not letting them, I'm less likely to be called a bitch. I get called a bitch at least once a week. And I'm so nice!
* Last week, this one guy comes up to my friend Anna, and asked for Orange 2 for 1 to Dark Water or some other crappy horror film. So Anna asks for the Orange code. He says something like, "Oh I forgot my phone" or "I'm on T-Mobile" or something. It was quite confusing, but basically he was trying to blag free tickets, and only had a slight grasp of the promotion. Loser!
Anyway, that's enough cinema-ranting for today. I have plenty more to tell you, mostly about people trying to sneak (well not really sneak) kids into horror films.
I've been doing some hardcore knitting recently, I made loads of hats at the weekend. Mostly because I was a bit upset about Lucky, so I just concentrated on knitting. And hats are easy and quick.
Oh! We got Scrabble last week, for some reason I had this real urge to play it. We'd been in The Entertainer in the Bullring, and they didn't have it! They had Junior Scrabble though. Anyway, Simon won the first two games, and I won the third. Here is the game I won.
So. That's all for today. I'm going to go and take a tablet for my headache, and I should probably eat something too.
