people are awesome

I've been meaning to post, mainly because I kind of love so many people right now. The book drive is still going on, and the turnout has been amazing. Thank you so much to the people who have already helped, whether it's by donating books or sending money to help with the shipping, or even if you just expressed concern over how Sharron's doing. More than a few of the authors have been happy to help, and seeing all the people who've never talked to Sharron and probably never will who want to help... It's impossible not to get warm fuzzies from all of it.

If you'd like to help, head on over to that post linked up there, and check out the spreadsheet of what's needed/what's been claimed. If you don't have the books on the list but still want to send some, what better excuse to hit up a used book store? (I managed to get 8 books for this yesterday for $16; it's easy to get good quality books for cheap.) You can donate to help with the cost of shipping, or to cover the cost of buying more books. Or if you can't do any of that, just tell your friends. Even if you yourself can't spare anything for the drive, you might know someone who can, so spread the word!

I'm trying to finish up filling this one box before sending it off, which means I have to go back to the bookstore from yesterday. (Their psychology/sociology section is pitiful so it is not my kind of place, but aside from that it kind of rocks.) I forgot to print out the spreadsheet at work, so before going anywhere I wrote down the names of authors I figured I'd definitely find, and then as I was cruising the aisles I had a lot of titles and authors ring a bell and I couldn't remember if they were on the list. Darn, I guess I just have to spend more time there. There's another one right by work I'm going to check out tomorrow, too.

(I keep meaning to have a real update post, too, but between this and just turning on the news to hear about Arizona or Australia or Brazil or Tunisia I'm feeling more affected by stuff than normal, and I haven't yet convinced myself that I'm not being selfish or insensitive by talking about work or weight loss or how I almost chopped off all my hair. Maybe I will blog the fashion at the Golden Globes here and get over that.)
