Update on my Mom
For those of you who don't already know, my mom is in the hospital. I was at my parents' house this weekend and at about 8:00 Saturday night, my mom walked out to the kitchen and collapsed and hit her head. I called 911 while my dad applied pressure to her heavily bleeding head. I have never been more scared in my entire life. Paramedics were there within minutes and her vitals were stable. We all know how to get to the hospital, but we made 3 wrong turns on the way there anyway and upon arrival, we get a flat tire just in time to pull into a parking space. She was in the ER until after 3am. Finally having her head stitched up, she was transferred to a room on the cardiac floor. Since then, it's been a lot of tests to see what made her collapse. Heart tests so far have been mostly normal and we are still waiting on some of her brain tests. She has a severe concussion and has to be medicated for pain and for dizziness and still isn't allowed to get out of bed by herself, but she is going to be okay. If the tests reveal nothing about what made her fall, I guess they'll just chalk it up to a random drop in blood pressure and hopefully it'll never happen again. Through all this, the things she is most worried about are scaring me and my dad, taking time off work (since they are so short staffed,) and the fact that she hasn't done her Christmas shopping.
