After dealing with a small case of smuggled chicks, Lithuania walked down a corridor of the SS Awesome to find France's room. A month had passed him while he was with the aliens, but he could tell they weren't a good source of advice.
Just returning from the kitchen with a brand new bottle of wine, France walks down the corridor towards his room, spotting Lithuania as he approaches. He smiles a little and calls calmly. "Toris, bonjour."
Hearing his name, Lithuania smiled slightly at France and quickened his steps. "A-ah, sveiki!" he greeted the other before looking around anxiously, "Ummm, France, are you free at the moment?"
France walks up the rest of the way, leaning against the wall a little as he grins at the other man. "Why, yes I am. Anything I can help you with?"
"It's just that... Well, I need advice about... something," Lithuania said hesitantly. It seemed like the obvious thing to go to France for help, but he didn't exactly want to say it out loud.
"...alright." France pulls himself away from the wall and takes his hand up to the doorknob, pushing it open and gesturing inside, still smiling. "After you."
Lithuania walked inside France's room tentatively but tried to reassure himself that it was good that nobody would be able to hear their conversation. Standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, Liet contemplated all the thoughts his mind was still trying to process. "I-I'm actually kind of glad Tony's friends dropped me off here. I didn't know who else to go to..."
After Lithuania walks in, France follows suit, closing the door behind him. "Go ahead, take a seat", he says as he gestures towards the couches on one side of the room, then picking up his corkscrew to open the bottle.
Taking a seat on the couch, Lithuania absently watched France with the wine. He knew of France's love for wine just as Russia's love for vodka. He smiled at the small similarity before debating how to express his concerns. "I-I hope I'm not being a bother to you, but I've had this problem on my mind for a while..." Lithuania mumbled while still unsure how to address the subject, "You... umm... know a lot about relationships, correct?"
It doesn't take much longer for France to open the bottle, and he puts both the cork and the screw on top of the coffee table, then sitting down next to him. He listens quietly as Lithuania speaks, thinking of his answer before opening his mouth. "Bon, I know a lot about romance, if that is what you mean. But tell me what it is you need help with, and I will tell you if I can help. Would you like some wine?" He asks as he pulls both glasses on the table closer to himself, pouring some wine on one of them.
"O-oh, no thank you," Lithuania mumbled apologetically before pausing for a moment, "It's kind of hard to say, really... I-I guess I mean to say that I'm having troubles with a relationship. It's not Poland, but someone else..." His gaze started to focus on things farther from France; he could feel himself blushing slightly. "I'm, uhhhh, having trouble showing someone that I care...I'd like to get to know them better on a deeper level..."
France nods and puts the bottle down, sipping on his glass as Lithuania explains his problem. He listens silently, waiting for him to finish before speaking up. "I see..." he murmurs, taking a long sip "And does this person know how you feel about them?"
"Sadly, no. At least, I doubt it..." Lithuania said as he shook his head. His hands clenched over his knees as he looked at his feet with a slightly defeated look.
As he does this, France leans a bit closer, taking his fingers to his jaw and pulling his head up. "Non, mon chéri. First of all - do not look defeated! You cannot lose a game you haven't started yet, c'est pas vrai?" he says, smiling a little
Startled by the sudden motion, Lithuania stared at France in alarm before remembering who he was with. "S-sorry, I guess it's been such a long time..." he faltered for a second, unsure if he should move away, "I j-just don't know what to do. All she sees me as is a friend..."
Francis moves his hand away as he looks up, leaning back against the couch. "Well, then you clearly need to change that, no?"
"But, I don't want to force m-my feelings on her..." Lithuania blushed as he looked around in bewilderment, "I-I mean, there are people who like her too, but I don't want to overwhelm her... S-she probably already likes someone else, anyways..."
As he speaks, France scoots a bit closer, furrowing his eyebrows as he listens. "So, are you planning to just forget it? You would not come talk to me if you were planning to do so, would you?"
Lithuania went silent, his tense gaze directed at France momentarily before looking away again. "A-ah, it's not that- I... I want to let her know that I care, but-..." He leaned back against the couch with a small sigh. "If there's any chance at all that she would feel the same, I would take it..."
Francis is now sitting close to him, hand on his chin as he thinks of the right words to say. "Perhaps--" he pauses, hesitantly "I think you need to let her know. Sometimes... sometimes people need to know there are other choices, other people, that particular person, right there, close to them, if they just turn around--" he goes silent again, looking into his glass for a bit, lost in his thoughts "All I am saying is, you need to give yourself a chance, and you need to give her a chance to think of you like that."
Lithuania thought over France's words before giving him a small smile, "You know, it was so much easier with Poland." He chuckled lightly as he thought on the past, "You think I would know how to deal with this after Belarus. But... Taiwan's different."
Francis lets out a chuckle himself as he rests his elbow on Lithuania's shoulder. "Well, of course she is. I mean- look at them, they're two completely different women." He sips on his wine as he silently contemplates both women in his mind.
Blinking out of nostalgia, Liet gave France a sheepish look. A part of him had wanted to not name names, but he had slipped up already. There was really no turning back. "Ah, yes... Taiwan is so... new," Lithuania said, failing to find a better word, "I can't really think of how to describe the feeling otherwise..."
France can't help but snerk a little, pulling his glass away from his lips to glance at Lithuania, arching an eyebrow. "Bon, oui, and so... not obsessed." He then takes a long gulp from his wine before leaning forward and setting the now almost empty glass down on the table. "So, mon chéri. What are you going to do about it?"
Lithuania's face turned a bright shade of red as he blinked at France. "W-well, I'm not sure how to, actually. Nothing I did really worked with Belarus... I... I can't say I'm experienced at these things..."
France chuckles a little, thinking how cute that shade looks on Lithuania's face. "Well, how do you wish to tell her? A letter? A conversation? Perhaps a present, or... a candlelit dinner for two~?" he says, his voice gradually lower as he leans a bit closer to Lithuania.
"T-t-tell her? H-how can I tell her now? I... I don't think she even knows right now..." Lithuania stuttered before thinking a few moments, "But... I-if I did ask her... I think I'd like it so that if she's unsure that she wouldn't feel pressured..."
"Well, if she doesn't know then you clearly need to tell her, non?" he stares at him, waiting for a reply.
"B-bu-but, I don't want to ruin anything... And, w-what if she likes someone else?" Lithuania asked quietly as he returned France's gaze with sincere puzzlement.
France merely arches an eyebrow at him, shrugging. "So what if she does? You can just make her change her mind... or heart, in this case."
Lithuania sighed wistfully at the thought. "Change her heart...? A-ah, I-I don't think I could do that if someone else has it first..."
"What? Non! But why?" he jumps a bit closer to him, clearly distressed (or excited). "You must fight for her feelings, such is the way of the heart! Would you rather live in silent denial until she runs off with someone less worthy??"
Lithuania shifted uncomfortably at France's startling movement, "B-but, what if they're really happy together? I-I can't do that to Amer-... I-I mean, I-... Ummm..."
Upon recognizing the name, Francis blinks several times at Lithuania, surprised. "...America? Serieusement?"
Lithuania nodded slowly, noticing France's surprise. "At least... I think she likes him... I-I'm not quite sure, though..."
France keeps blinking as he confirms this, then breaking into a small laughter. "Oh, please... She could do so much better! Besides he probably doesn't even realize... and probably never will." He shrugs a little, leaning back on the couch.
"B-but, still! What if they do manage to get together? America has always been very nice, and-...!" He realized that his voice sounded too defensive before he stopped halfway in his thoughts. "....Is it really safe to tell her while she has a mind for someone else?"
France grins at his question, leaning on Lithuania's shoulder again. "Of course, when else?? You must prove yourself worthy, and she will see you in a new light."
"I... I guess I'm just scared of what she'll say then. I really don't want to ruin anything between us..." Liet sighed as he felt France's weight on his shoulder. "W-when do you think I should tell her...?"
"Oh, what's the worst it could happen? I don't think she'd stop being your friend because of it, so..." Francis replies, not moving from his place. "And you should tell her as soon as you meet her, of course. Why waste an opportunity?"
Lithuania frowned slightly at the suggestion while ignoring France's weight, "Just tell her openly...? A-ah, I think that's not the greatest thing considering America's 'Island Running' idea... S-sorry, I guess I should be asking how I should tell her. I don't want to mess anything up..."
"Well, you have many ways to choose from. You could play the innocent, shy boy..." Francis replies, exemplifying by shifting his eyes to the floor, pouting a bit as he blinks an exaggerated number of times "...or you could play on a more seductive level -" he continues, changing his pout to a smirk, his half-lidded eyes combining to a full-on come-hither look, and he winks at Lithuania before continuing "- or..."
He watched as France changed his expressions to emphasize his point with an uncomfortable curiosity. "I-I meant how to tell her, but..."
France looks at Lithuania, a bit puzzled "...but?"
"I don't think it would be polite if I wasn't myself while telling her... Which is the problem I'm having at the moment, I guess..."
"Well, that was what I was about to say." he says, smiling "You can always be yourself. She wouldn't want anything else either way, would she?"
A small smile lifted Lithuania's thoughtful expression as he nodded. "I guess that's the best option I have then. The only problem is that I can't think of a method..."
"Method?" he glances at him quizzically "There is no method. You should just think of all the things you want to say to her. First of all, you should remind her that you like and cherish her as a friend above all, and no matter how she feels you will always be her friend... right?"
Lithuania blushed slightly out of embarrassment, "A-ah, yes. See, I'm really not good at this... That sounds like the best... P-Poland said something similar to that a very long time ago, actually." A bit of nostalgia left him quiet for a moment before he shook his head of the thoughts. He had something just as important to focus on.
France nods silently, waiting for Lithuania to snap out of his thoughts to speak up. "So? What else would you like to say to her?"
The blush across his face was still steady, but not out of complete embarrassment, "A-ah, well, I guess I would want to tell her that... that... I wouldn't want to worry her with my feelings, but that month with Tony's friends helped me see that I want to make something more out of this opportunity here. I doubt I would've seen her in the full light of things if I was still surrounded by political matters..."
France smiles approvingly, shaking his head a bit "Yes, go on..."
"M-more...? U-umm... I guess... I would really like it if she could accept my feelings, but if that doesn't work out... I'll still always be here for her," Lithuania said quietly as he smiled at France. It felt like everything would be fine if he tried, if he went through and actually told her.
France stares at him, not saying a word for a moment, just studying him, his eyebrows furrowed. "You're forgetting something", he finally says.
The little thought broke instantly, a look of complete panic written all over his face. "W-what? D-did I say something wrong...?"
"Well, yes of course. You forgot to say -" Francis continues, pulling himself a bit from the couch to face Lithuania, gripping him on both sides of his arms. "...I really really like you, Taiwan." he looks dead serious right now "Or love, even - but that is your own choice."
"O-oh, sorry!" Lithuania apologized quickly as his gaze shifted between France and his grip on his arms. "A-ah, France...?"
France merely smiles, tilting his head a little "Oui?"
Liet gave France a shaky smile, still wondering about the grip on his arms. "Ummmm... t-thank you, really. For hearing me out, I mean."
"Not at all, mon chéri", he replies, shaking his head "And perhaps, after you're done... don't let her run off before..."
"...Before what?" Lithuania asked cautiously.
"Before you finish. Like..." France pauses, frowning for a second before shrugging and smirking at Lithuania "Bon, like this~" and, without giving Lithuania any time to think, he leans forward, kissing him on the lips.
His mind barely registered that France was kissing him the next moment. But, he should've predicted it; he knew what others said about France. Lithuania didn't push the other nation away, though; it felt almost rude if he did.
Taking that as a hint - or not, either way he wouldn't care -, France tilts his head to the side, trying to deepen the kiss as his grip on Lithuania's arms slackens just a bit.
The motion felt familiar as he felt France trying to coax him to kiss back. Out of reaction, Lithuania kissed back cautiously. It was a horrible time to rely on learned actions alone, but he made the mistake of opening up slightly to France.
And that little 'mistake' was all France needed to slip his tongue past Lithuania's lips, tasting his mouth as his hands move up to rest on his shoulders.
Tasting the wine on France's tongue and breath, Liet's mind reeled back to reality. Uneasiness and comfort spread equally through his thoughts while he pushed lightly against France's chest. It wasn't vodka, he should've known better.
France promptly ignores the pushes as he keeps on kissing him, tongue rubbing against his as he tugs him a bit closer through his shoulders.
A small alarm went off in Lithuania's head as he felt himself getting pulled closer to France. Turning his head to the side, Lithuania took a small gasp of air before looking like a deer caught in the headlights. "F-France...?!"
Not deterred by Lithuania's move - if anything, only encouraged considering the access he's providing -, France leans his head closer, kissing and sucking on his neck instead. He absentmindedly lets out a low 'Mmhm?' to Lithuania's call, but not really listening.
Lithuania grit his teeth in concentration as France started at his neck. "I-I don't think this would b-be the best thing to spring on Taiwan if I do tell her..." Hopefully, bringing back their discussion would snap France out of whatever he was planning on.
France simply chuckles against his ear, whispering lowly as he runs his hands down the other side of his face. "Oh, but who ever said anything about Taiwan~?"
Lithuania stared at France in disbelief before lowering his eyes and apologizing quickly. With enough force to clear some room between them, Lithuania got up from the couch quickly. "S-sorry! I-I just remembered that... ummm.... chicks. Yes, the chicks-!" Wrenching the door open as fast as possible, Lithuania bowed slightly to France, muttered more apologies before leaving swiftly down the hallway.
Faster than what France could react, Lithuania was up on his feet and walking towards the door. At first, he stared at him, a surprised look on his face, but by the time he was at the door, he was already leaning forward to pick up his wine glass again, smirking towards the other man "À très bientôt, Toris."
