INCOHERENT TL;DR IMMINENT-
FFFFFFFFF RIKU sob. RIKU IS. RIKU, but. Okay, so IN THE BEGINNING, he seriously thought they would never get along. When he first met him, he totally thought Riku was some pasty ass bastard wannabe badass punk with a stick up his ass that's not his dick and silver hair (seriously who the fuck tries to rock silver hair these days), and the only thing he had going for him was his pretty face. Yes, he thought Riku was attractive since the first five minutes of meeting him alkjshfald DON'T JUDGE.
But then, it didn't take long for him to realize that damn, Riku's kind of sort of one of those popular charismatic folk and... he doesn't really consider himself one of those because, he knows that he's kind of an asshole with like, abandonment issues sob. But knowing that about Riku made him seem a little more intimidating because, hell, that means he can't exactly be mean to him and that he's... not exactly a bastard. And so for a time, Axel had pretty much no clue how to deal with Riku, until he eventually settled on teasing him. He really doesn't have any malicious intent behind it, despite how it would seem like he did (i.e.: melting bottles of conditioner)- it's just that he's been so used to backstabbing people before they could have a chance to backstab him that he gets kind of derp and awkward around genuinely chill and good people like Riku. 8( Really, he was honestly waiting for the day Riku would kill him in his sleep sob.
The way he sees it, Riku needs to loosen up some anyway and AT FIRST IT JUST STARTED OFF AS FOR THE LULZ, but he never expected that you know, when he calls Riku 'honey' he'd end up actually kind of meaning it. He immensely enjoys their rounds of teasing and making fun of each other with copious amounts of sarcasm mixed in, but he also knows that Riku's been through a lot of shit, like him. In that way, he feels like he can... relate to him along with the fact that Riku's a pretty good listener. He's honestly surprised Riku hasn't killed him yet over all those bottles of conditioner, but it's also because of that that Axel likes him AND REALLY, HE DOES IT BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU RIKU, HONESTLY.
But Axel's not exactly the type to pry, contrary to popular belief, and he's glad that Riku isn't that type either. And though he likes Riku as much as he likes his huge family, it's really a different kind of like; because when it comes down to it, he can be as silly and immature as he wants around Riku and he knows that he can take it. It's like a kind of freedom and the only other person he was comfortable enough to be like that around was with his grandma. And hell, that's fucking saying something.
BUT BASICALLY, Riku is... pretty special in Axel's book. He's kind of stuck with him for so long without having really lashed out at him and that both takes Axel off guard and... means a lot to him at the same time. 8( He honestly didn't know when he started harboring feelings towards him, but like hell he's gonna say anything unless Riku starts dropping hints that he feels the same way or something. BECAUSE IN THE END, Axel is kind of a coward, and he honestly can't bear to have his heart broken again because. Really, he won't have anything left.
