What a nice time!
Last night Jenny pounded on my door and yelled that there was an old man riding a bike to Old Faithful and he was lost. She was extremely upset (she gets upset, Alot), but this time I got upset because she was pounding on my door at home and was impacting my weekend. Last night we were having a staff picnic/party down at the lake and I was in charge of securing the permit for the location. I was also hoping to go for a hike with Jessica yesterday, but Jessica was no where to be found and I was a bit annoyed/disappointed already. THEN, Jessica did show up and Jenny was like, "Okay, Jessica and I are going to go pick up this lost guy and take him to Old Faithful." That sent me over the edge and I was like "No. That's ridiculous. It doesn't take two people to pick up a 70 year old man on a bicycle." Jenny said that she didn't want to drive it alone and I told Jenny I didn't want to host a party for 30 people by myself and that there was no reason for Jessica to go. Much to my surprise Jenny backed down and chilled out quite a bit, and Jessica ended up staying to help me set up for the party.
The party, by the way, was a blast. The only potential downside is that I drank more than I should have, which probably wasn't a good idea considering the only people at this party were my staff or Canyon's staff. It was great seeing old employees from last year and my old boss. It was also nice seeing our staff come out of their shell and lighten up a bit. I think having outside-of-work gatherings with staff is a GREAT way to boost morale and help everyone become friends. Having a staff where everyone is friends and gets along is SUPER preferable to having a bunch of drama queens battling with one another.
OH, and then last night I asked Jessica if she wanted to hike to Storm Point and watch the sun rise and she was totally game. We did the hike this morning and it was Alot of fun.I don't know what it is, but when we go for hikes there is rarely a moment of silence. She chats away and sometimes I chat away. Its really nice. I feel like we've become friends and having friends is great.
Its only 8:30 and I still have so much day ahead of me! :D
