I sat down to have lunch and then update my books post and turned on the tv to be mindlessly entertained while eating, and to my delighted surprise I stumbled upon some "Paid Programming" that was fantastic.
No, it wasn't an infomercial. Well, not your typical one. It was called
We Are Austin produced by the local CBS station that showed me even more about my wonderful city gave me some great ideas for shopping, personal enrichment, and a new way to take guests on a limited tour. Not everything is on that list, but I want to check out Ten Thousand Villages, Austin Art Glass to shop and take one of their classes, and Not Your Usual Bikes is the neat new way to take people on a brief tour. Oh, and Shoal Creek Nursery is right down the street from my house, and I love it! I just dug out my very first flowerbed yesterday, and I'll be hitting the nursery this week for new plants after I plant some of my current container garden.
Now, books. I finally read the next book in the Chronicles of Narnia! But I didn't like it.

The Horse and His Boy (adult) (Narnia)
The Horse and His Boy
The story dragged on until the last couple of chapters and wasn't nearly as exciting to me as the first two books. Plus the dialog was more annoying than anything else and the little asides from the narrator drove me insane.

Fearless Fourteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 14)
Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich
I agree with
fauxmiddlechild, the plot was pedestrian, but this one did make me laugh out loud several times. Maybe it was because I was seriously in need of some lighthearted entertainment this weekend after adding my part to the Summer of Family Drama. My poor mother was caught in the middle yet again.
But I digress. I'm shamelessly borrowing fauxmiddlechild's description because the dryer just buzzed and I need to finish the laundry so that I can go work on my flowerbed some more.
"In her latest adventure,Stephanie inherits a high school gamer whose
mother can't make bail. Throw in the kid's recently released uncle and
the nine million dollar bank job that landed him in jail, and we've got a
plot. The usual cast of characters is back: Ranger, Lula, grandma
Mazur, Bob, and Stephanie's long suffering mother. The new additions
include a musical sensation, her stalker cousin, and adult gamer who
ends up protecting Morelli's house."
