Good Cookie, definition: 1. Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; 2. Generation Kill fanworks created for YAGKYAS. Can include short (under 1000 words) ficlets, drabbles, drawables, mixtapes, fanart, whatever!
The Generation Kill fandom has been so very good - this year, and every year since our fandom invasion began. In celebration of this excellent fandom, YAGKYAS is going to be a Good Cookie extravaganza this year! Not only are we kicking off sign-ups with a Good Cookies post, we're going to do one a month, each one with a unique, timely theme. Fear not, December will still be the traditional free-for-all.
As the leaves turn, as the days grow shorter, fall is a time for contemplation. Deep, serious thoughts. Like, it's been almost a year since the last American troo ps left Iraq, almost ten years since the invasion. And so YAGKYAS presents:
This round of Good Cookies is dedicated to the creation of fanworks that explore the theme, “Then and Now:” how the Marines’ (and Reporter’s!) lives have changed since the invasion. What’s different? What’s the same? How do they look back upon the invasion? How did it impact them?
Make a prompt, pick a prompt, make a fanwork, and post it in the comments! Prompts can be used multiple times, and by anyone--whether you're planning to participate in
yagkyas or not. We'll collect the prompts and responses as we go along. Feel free to chat and buzz about how excited you are for YAGKYAS, too!
To prompt a ficlet/drabble/drawble/fanart, give a character, pairing, and a short phrase or quote:
Colbert/Fic: The Ten Year War
Colbert/Person: “So dawn goes down to day/Nothing gold can stay”
Patterson, “That sonofabitch still has my Oakleys”
Reyes, a superhero even without the uniform
To request icons/fanart/something else, put:
ICON: Ray looking back
FANMIX: Where has the time gone?
FANMIX: “It's times like these you learn to love again”
To fill a prompt, please reply to that prompt with the word FILL (just like that, in bold caps), in either the subject line or as the VERY FIRST WORD of the comment.
Go forth and get some cookies!
