CJSF3 Round 4 Sign-Ups

Aug 01, 2011 14:54

Is anybody up for Round 4 of CJSF3? I know a lot of us are still writing warbigbang and our drafts are due in September. We'll try this again and see if we get enough people signing up.

So, to recap:
CJSF3 is a Generation Kill specific ficfinishing fest running over the course of the summer, right here on combat_jack. Why reinvent the wheel? We’re pretty much going to run it parallel with ficfinishing. If you don’t want to jump into the larger comm, then stay right here in the happy and comfortable world of Generation Kill. If you have a GK fic that needs finishing and you think 2 weeks is all you need to complete either the full story or a chapter, sign up here by commenting, to join us in finishing it. You know what? Even if there’s no chance you’ll finish anything significant, but you just need to get words on paper, sign up here. If you are willing to read very rough, raw, not-ready-for-public-consumption fic and ‘midwife’ it into completion, sign up here with a comment. We’re taking sign-ups until 12 August.

How it will work …

Each day, one of us will post a mirror of the task for the day at ficfinishing. Writers, do your best to complete the task and get words on the page. As the day comes to an end, writers comment with an updated word count. First readers, answer the comment with a reply that encourages the progress and continuing effort. Writers, ask one of the readers to read your story and give you encouragement. Readers, if a story idea a writer lists intrigues you, volunteer to read it and provide encouragement. Again, first readers are cheerleaders, not beta readers, so it’s a stress-free job!

At the end of the 14 days, writers post the sum total of their progress, by listing their starting word count, and their ending word count. When fics are completed, writers usually post straight to the comm that the fic is finished and everyone celebrates. If a first reader transitions to a beta reader, which I’ve done, that’s between the reader and the writer. Then we all get to sit and wait for the finished product to hit the Generation Kill comms!

So, if you’d like to join us to write, comment below with:

Comment Subject Line: Writer
Your fic title, even if it’s a working title
Pairing
Plot or outline (crossovers are welcome, as long as the primary fandom is GK)
Current word count
Misc: anything that might make your story seem more interesting OR indicates how much help you desperately need to get it finished, such as: “this has been a WIP on my computer for 3 years I’m trying to get it done!”

If you’d like to be a first reader, comment below with:
