Your lilac heart shimmers
and mutates until the glow is almost
crimson like my
nails against your skin.
There are pieces of you
missing and I almost
see where to put them
if I ever find them.
Cracks like in glass, your heart reveals
a brokenness I can taste
like bitter blood against my teeth.
I will chew my way
into you somehow
until we fuse together
all stained in lust and love and secrets.
The real secret is, though,
that we're not what people think we are
we're in hiding together alone somewhere
our hearts entwined and our
hands far apart.
Look, but do not touch
never speak
kiss in secret
all so this can reveal a brokenness that is almost sweet.
Our eyes don't meet but our hearts
are in the same place at the same time
and our lives are simply connected
without words, without gestures.
Look, but do not touch
never speak
kiss in secret
I will wear you to my death
sweet like funeral flowers
a scent that haunts
but I know it's just
you.
It's just you.
