[Spoilers, so beware.]

So we went to see Children in Happy Fun Land with Furry Animals....I mean, Narnia 2: Prince Caspian today.

It really was better than the book (which put me to sleep) and the beginning definitely drew you in. Except it was predictable as hell.

First off, they give away who the freggin' bad guy is in the second scene. Which, in ( Read more... )

The Golden Compass? I loved that movie. Then again, I'm much more fond of those books than I am of Narnia. It was tons better than either of the Narnia movies, by a longshot. In its defense, the books are awesome, whereas C.S. Lewis is better off writing technical manuals.

Hah! I didn't mention the Prince because I don't like to hold personal opinions over the whole movie, but he is pretty gag-worthy. *fake lisp* "I am Princth Cathspian."

umm, I shouldn't mention the pesky wizard then, eh?

lol, it was just the whole presentation in the preiew I saw. ride up on the horse, centre screen looking down at little girl... just sooo much 'I'm the one all the little gils are going to squee over, come and adore me'

oh well. No reservation was to my taste.... and now Indy. but thats a sad rollcall

Pesky wizard? *puzzled look*

Anyway. No Reservation was good, though I'm not much of a romantic comedy person (can't you tell? XD). I loved Indy. I'm just very critical of the different aspects of a movie, especially the story and dialogue.

I try not to take too much from the previews, but that was definitely what happened through the movie. First he criticizes them for being young, then goes after the girls like a freaking rabbit. I just put it up to really bad characterization. Though in the book, it was basically "Hello, I'm the Prince, let's go to war so I can get my throne back even though you have no idea who I am!"

..honestly cacn't think of the name.. 4 movies, more books, prisoner of ..azkaran?

lol, whereas those are a huge percentage of what I watch. umm, not sure what I pick at more... characters and inconsistencies without redeeming factors maybe.

~~I can't help but pick up the 'feel' of them. I know its not fair in either direction... but there you go.

you sen any of the previews for Passchendaele? I'm not usually a war movie fan, though I'll go for the 'classics' just so 've seen 'em.. anyhow. with Paul Gross, I just can't help being curious...

Never even heard of it (Passchendaele).

Oh, Harry Potter! Yeah, the movies for that started out pretty good, but they've gone downhill since.

I definitely look at character traits as well, but I need something really meaty to like a character a lot. I can take a liking to characters, but you better have some pretty stellar writing skills if you want me to love the characters. Pullman (The Golden Compass) is able to do that, which makes me love the series all the more.

ummm, not that many people share my tastes, but... the Theory of flight with kenneth braggah(sp?) -I like the movie, but... its got fault lines and shortcuts- or, ha!, the lion in winter, katharine hepburn -classic-. walking ned devine? saving grace with breda blethyn.

eh eh, I am not a cultured movie goer unfortunately.I just like to have reasonnably well characterized fun.

hey! best and worst part of LOR?

Lord of the Rings? Haven't seen it in ages...probably the part in the Two Towers (I think) when the trees attack is my favorite part. The huge ogre-thing was my least favorite. XD

One thing about Narnia is that I absolutely adore the soundtrack. Have you seen Dragonheart?

Dragonheart has always been one of my favorite movies. It's the only one that can make me cry every time I watch it. :)

Then of course there's Stargate the Movie. XD
