Rattler Crossing

So, last night we found what we thought was a baby Rattlesnake out on the front porch. It was adorable. I'd take a baby, highly venomous snake any time over my nephew. Took it down to the University today and found out it was a little Night Snake, not very venomous at all. It looks like a rattler, but it's a hell of a lot smaller and has no rattle. This wasn't a baby, it was more like a teenager (about 20 centimeters long). It's actually the third snake we've found around the house - there was a big adult rattler in the backyard a couple years ago, and a cute little Ring snake we found in the hallway once. I've actually seen more snakes in the neighborhood than out hiking in the desert. XD

Anyway, here's what an adult Night Snake looks like:

They're apparently very docile and easy to handle. I wanted to keep him, but decided to give him to the guy at the University.
