i was watching "lucky luke" (a cartoon from 1975, i think) about this cool cat cowboy, never much to say, just suckin' on a lit stogie, tippin' his hat at the saloon girls, and kickin' ass when the occasion called for it. even his horse, jolly jumper, was a stud.
based on today's standards, it's a horriblly offensive cartoon. but, i love it. the offended be damned!
i used to be lucky luke. i would dress up in a checkered shirt, blue jeans, boots, cowboy hat and wear a plastic, painted star and spurs. my bike was jolly jumper. my mom would say, "you comin' in fer lunch, sheriff?"
"yup." and i'd spit. 'cause that's what cowboys do.
i went through a stage where i was australian, too. must've been after i first saw "crockadile dundee". only my name was rick. i don't remember my last name, but i'm sure it was rogue and handsome sounding. nobody knew about rick though. i only played him at night after everyone went to bed. he was a sex monger, and you can't very well pretend you're sexin' up the ladies with a parent around.
rick taught me a lot of good moves, too. i tried a couple of 'em with a fair amount of success. but then, i wanted real girls... not make believe, so rick was eaten by a giant, mutated mongoose. sad, really.
i was also the catepillar from "alice in wonderland" once. but that was more mimicking, than make believing. and, quite honestly, there is serious bias against catepillars. everybody wants a freakin' butterfly.
